In MyMemeCards, the meme card game, “Le GIF” is a rare card of the Memes FR pack, number 831 of the collection, and the 464th best-known meme of its 869 cards. Here is what the meme means, where it comes from, and how to get its card.
What does the “Le GIF” meme mean?
Among French-speaking streaming fans, saying “the GIF” with no further detail points to this one. The joke was never the picture itself, which nobody shows on stream, but the reaction it pulls: the awkward silence, the nervous laugh, the webcam catching all of it live. The phrase has become a way to talk about a piece of content while pointedly refusing to share it, a shared reference that works precisely because it stays unseen.
Where does the “Le GIF” meme come from?
ZEvent 2022 ran from 9 to 11 September in Montpellier and raised 10,182,126 euros for Sea Shepherd France, the LPO, WWF France and The SeaCleaners. On the evening of 11 September, during the closing rush, ZeratoR posted on X that the GIF of #ZEVENT22 was “not easy to describe”. The image came from MisterMV, who passed it from booth to booth; no reliable source documents what it actually showed, and the channels covering it only tie it to a Jean-Marie Bigard gag. Over the following days the Tintain channel uploaded several compilations: ZeratoR’s first look on 12 September, then other streamers’ reactions on 13, 14 and 15 September. Those clips are what fixed the phrase.
