“La prison c'est pas des lol” meme: meaning, origin and common card

What does the “La prison c'est pas des lol” meme mean?

The phrase plays on the gap between a solemn courtroom tone and the casual French “lol”. It pokes fun at how quickly social media convicts someone on the strength of a single look. Commenters behave like an improvised jury, some insisting on guilt, others imagining a redemption arc behind bars. The mood is dry, absurd humor, never real anger. People use it under a video where someone seems shady, overconfident or caught red-handed, to stage a trial with no appeal.

Where does the “La prison c'est pas des lol” meme come from?

The meme grew out of French-speaking TikTok, where the comment section matters as much as the clip. The pattern rarely changes: a close-up on a stare or expression, followed by a flood of replies playing prosecutor. Lines such as “you make prison hard, bro”, “he’s guilty.” and “prison opened his eyes” travel from video to video, typed in deliberately sloppy slang. The title borrows the idea that prison is no laughing matter and delivers it in a mock-serious voice. It spreads as comment screenshots and edits, each poster adding another piece of evidence.
