In MyMemeCards, the meme card game, “Mamadou segpa” is a common card of the Memes FR pack, number 949 of the collection, and the 747th best-known meme of its 882 cards. Here is what the meme means, where it comes from, and how to get its card.
What does the “Mamadou segpa” meme mean?
The card targets nobody: this is a role, written and performed by the person who created it, like any sketch. The role runs on a single mechanism, confidence without knowledge, which is why it lasted. Quoting the name today means saying an answer is wrong yet delivered without a shadow of doubt. So it shows up after a cheerfully mistaken reading, an explanation driving into a wall, or on oneself after saying something enormous. The label is happily self-applied, which makes it gentler than it looks.
Where does the “Mamadou segpa” meme come from?
The character first appeared in 2014 in a series of videos posted by his own author, who writes, dresses and plays him. The video used as the card’s source, posted on 8 May 2014, shows the routine: a question asked, an answer given with unshakeable seriousness, and nothing correct inside it. Its original title is built on a racial slur and is not reproduced here; the card keeps only the character and the date. No web encyclopedia documents the series, and the sources consulted add nothing about the author’s identity, so this article stays with what the videos show. The spread happened through the name alone, used as a label long after the videos stopped circulating.
- 2014The video used as the card’s source is posted on 8 May, on the channel of the character’s author.
