“Matuidi Charo” meme: meaning, origin and rare card

What does the “Matuidi Charo” meme mean?

The meme voices admiration for a tireless workhorse who runs everywhere: in attack, in defense, in midfield. It salutes a teammate doing unseen but precious work, or celebrates a win with a dose of irony. In stands and group chats, “Matuidi Charo” works as a cheer to throw out after a good play, a dance or a victory gesture. The tone is joyful and popular, and it recalls the years when PSG kept collecting league titles.

Where does the “Matuidi Charo” meme come from?

Blaise Matuidi played for PSG from 25 July 2011 until summer 2017, when he moved to Juventus. A defensive and box-to-box midfielder, he won five French league titles with the Paris club and the 2018 World Cup with France, starting the 4-2 final against Croatia. The rapper Niska dedicated the track “Matuidi Charo” to him, with a hook that lists the player’s positions. A compilation titled “Tous les Matuidi CHARO” gathers his dance celebrations at PSG and with the national team, and the song has also been remixed by other artists.
