What does the “Mauvaise nouvelle” meme mean?
The phrase works as a hook: it builds suspense and hints at real drama, then the reveal turns out trivial or obvious. The comic effect comes from that deflated expectation. People use it to announce a harmless defeat, a cruel joke among friends, a Monday coming back or a bill arriving, with the solemn tone of a messenger delivering a fatal letter.
Where does the “Mauvaise nouvelle” meme come from?
The title is thrown out in capitals, like an alert: the meme boils down to that announcement cry. The wording belongs to the language of news and daily talk, where it precedes something unpleasant, and French-speaking internet users reused it as is in captions and edits. Its appeal lies in its simplicity: two words are enough to create expectation, and the punchline can be anything, which makes the format easy to adapt to any context.

The “Mauvaise nouvelle” card was reprinted as Epic (No. 1,629). A reprint is the same meme printed again, with a number of its own and a higher rarity than its first printing, which was rare. Its face reads “Reprinted card · Higher rarity”.
Every printing is dealt in the packs of the Memes FR pack, each at its own rarity: the higher it is, the rarer the card is to pull. Copies of the first printing already pulled stay as they are, and any printing counts toward completing a set.
MyMemeCards reprints a meme when it deserves more than the rarity of its first printing, such as a classic that became iconic after it came out: the reprint gives it a place among the most sought-after cards without taking anything from the players who already had it.
