Where does the “Justino the night guard” meme come from?
The 2015 advert for Spain's lotería de Navidad, created by agency Leo Burnett, marked the first time the Christmas campaign was based on an animated short film. Justino works the night shift as a security guard at a mannequin factory and never crosses paths with his coworkers, despite spending his nights surrounded by human figures. Ironically, it is his coworkers who buy him the winning jackpot ticket. The advert drew comparisons to the character from Pixar's “Up” and inspired numerous memes, although according to specialised press it generated fewer than previous years' campaigns.
