The custom on the Forocoches forum is to write “pole” as soon as someone is the first to reply to a new thread, borrowing the term from the leading position in motor racing. On 1 February 2007, a forum member opened a thread specifically to complain that this reflex was already flooding the first five replies of every discussion, which shows the habit was well established by that date. The thread itself gathered around fifty replies and became a reference point in the forum's own folklore.
