In MyMemeCards, the meme card game, “Mimimi” is a common card of the Memes FR pack, number 4565 of the collection, and the 753rd best-known meme of its 3502 cards. Here is what the meme means, where it comes from, and how to get its card.
What does the “Mimimi” meme mean?
People type or sing mimimi to mean “stop whining”. The sound reproduces a small grumbling voice, and its repetitive rhythm sharpens the jeer. It is used against a complaint, a tantrum or a reaction that seems out of proportion, usually in a light tone between friends. It can sting when aimed at someone who is truly struggling, so it is best kept for trivial gripes. It replaces a long speech by saying the remark does not deserve attention.
Where does the “Mimimi” meme come from?
Mimimi is an onomatopoeia known in several languages, used to reproduce a childish or irritating complaint. It has circulated in comments, messages and short videos for many years without a single person or video claiming it. Online it is often typed in repeated lowercase syllables, sometimes with a crying emoji or an eye-rolling face. The word earned its spot in everyday chat vocabulary, to the point that an image or a sound is enough to suggest it. Anyone can stretch it: mimimimi, mimimimimi, depending on how much energy the teasing needs.
