In MyMemeCards, the meme card game, “Noopy le lapin” is an epic card of the Memes FR pack, number 4519 of the collection, and the 753rd best-known meme of its 3502 cards. Here is what the meme means, where it comes from, and how to get its card.
What does the “Noopy le lapin” meme mean?
Noopy evokes the tongue-in-cheek French humour of the 2000s. People cite it for something cute turning threatening, or to joke about a harmless object waved around like a weapon. The idea of a rabbit used like a club is funny because it is absurd. For thirty-somethings it is also a shared memory: the tune, the voice and the images return as soon as the name is said. The meme circulates as nostalgia and as a twist alike.
Where does the “Noopy le lapin” meme come from?
“Noopy, gentil lapin” is a track by Michaël Youn, a French comedian, singer and host born in Suresnes. The video exists in several versions on YouTube, including a performance on the show “Morning Live”, and other clips even ask what became of the gentle rabbit. The plush character has thus crossed the years through reuploads. What remains is an absurd idea: using it as a weapon. That offbeat image, more than the plot of the song, feeds today’s edits and nostalgic comments.
