What does the “Nous on en a rien à foutre” meme mean?
The question is used when you attribute total indifference to a group and want to point it out with irony. It carries a victimised “we” and a mocking conclusion that waits for contradiction. People pull it out to jeer at a team quarrel, a couple’s reproach or an absurd accusation. Said in an exaggerated, wounded voice, it turns comic. The register is casual and not truly aggressive: it is a role-play of offence that provokes a reaction more than it accuses.
Where does the “Nous on en a rien à foutre” meme come from?
The scene that launched this phrase is not known with certainty, and it is better not to assign an author or date. What can be observed is its use: a reproach line pulled from a heated exchange, reused in comments and edits by French-speaking users, who apply it to ordinary situations to turn it into a joke about wounded pride.
