What does the “P’tit Filous Tub’s ad” meme mean?
The meme plays on a simple contrast from the jingle: Tub’s come in tubes, not pots. The upbeat lyrics praising the product make the clip memorable, while later uses can give it an ironic twist. It works as a throwback to an old commercial, as a playful caption for something tube-shaped, or as a way to revive the jingle’s emphatic sales pitch.
Where does the “P’tit Filous Tub’s ad” meme come from?
The meme comes from a French commercial for P’tit Filous Tub’s, rather than a comedy show or humorous video. Characters presented as Tub’s sing a jingle distinguishing tubes from pots and promoting the product’s benefits, including calcium and vitamin D. The available information does not establish when the original campaign aired, who the people in it were, or where it first ran. A copy titled “Pub ‘P’tit filou tub’s’” was uploaded to YouTube by the user AXEL on December 4, 2019; that date refers to the copy, not the original broadcast. The jingle is now reused ironically, sometimes alongside pictures of tube-shaped objects or as a nostalgic reference to old advertising.
