Where does the “One-Punch Man” meme come from?
The original work is a Japanese webcomic created by the author known as ONE, published on his personal website starting in July 2009. The series was later adapted into a manga illustrated by Yūsuke Murata, launching on Shūeisha’s Tonari no Young Jump platform in June 2012. The anime adaptation produced by Madhouse aired in Japan from October to December 2015. The main character, Saitama, possesses strength so great he defeats any opponent with a single punch. The humor stems from the contrast between this limitless power and his mundane daily life.
