“Ouais allô salem” meme: meaning, origin and epic card

What does the “Ouais allô salem” meme mean?

The phrase evokes picking up a call where you can tell right away it is going to derail. It acts as a comic signal: people drop it at the start of a voice note, as a video caption, or in reply to a friend saying “I had quite a call”. The drawling tone, halfway between greeting and suspicion, is the flavour. It is also used to imitate a casual caller, without malice.

Where does the “Ouais allô salem” meme come from?

The meme rests on phone-call clips that circulate on YouTube under titles such as “Allo Salam” or “Allo salem”, often with laughing emojis and comments about how improbable the conversation is. Users pull out the short, recognisable first line and reuse it as a sound in short videos and comment replies. The formula sits in the long web tradition of prank calls and phone conversations turned into jokes in francophone communities.

The reprint of the “Ouais allô salem” card

The “Ouais allô salem” card was reprinted as Legendary (No. 5,194). A reprint is the same meme printed again, with a number of its own and a higher rarity than its first printing, which was epic. Its face reads “Reprinted card · Higher rarity”.

Every printing is dealt in the packs of the Memes FR pack, each at its own rarity: the higher it is, the rarer the card is to pull. Copies of the first printing already pulled stay as they are, and any printing counts toward completing a set.

MyMemeCards reprints a meme when it deserves more than the rarity of its first printing, such as a classic that became iconic after it came out: the reprint gives it a place among the most sought-after cards without taking anything from the players who already had it.
