What does the “Papayou (MisterMV)” meme mean?
The joke is total commitment to a song that never asked for it. The costume is complete, the staging careful, the chorus deliberately repetitive, and the collision between 1980s French variety pop and a streaming audience does the rest. Online the clip works as a declared earworm: people share it to inflict the same fate on others, post it when a tune will not leave their head, or use it to point back at a performance remembered as a highlight of the marathon. The word “papayou” alone is enough to start the tune up again.
Where does the “Papayou (MisterMV)” meme come from?
The performance took place during ZEvent, the French streaming charity marathon, on 5 September 2026 — the publication date of the clip released by MisterMV's official clips channel, in which musician and broadcaster André Manoukian reacts to it. The streamer covers “Papayou”, a song by the French singer Carlos, dressed as him: yellow jacket, blue sunglasses, striped tie, headphones on, microphone in hand, in front of blue paper flowers and a neon sign. Further clips followed in the days after, including a re-upload on 14 September 2026 titled “Papayou - mistermv”. No encyclopedia page or press article documents the moment yet, so this entry rests on the clips themselves.
