In MyMemeCards, the meme card game, “Persuadable Bouncer” is a rare card of the Memes World series 71, number 21059 of the collection, and the 55th best-known meme of its 300 cards. Here is what the meme means, where it comes from, and how to get its card.
What does the “Persuadable Bouncer” meme mean?
This humorous format highlights a stark contrast between two elements. The bouncer acts as a gatekeeper who radically changes his attitude based on the quality or intimidation factor of the target. The main emotion is amusement at this absurd favoritism or injustice. It is used to point out that something isn't good enough unless replaced by something superior or terrifying. It serves as a funny critique of arbitrary standards.
Where does the “Persuadable Bouncer” meme come from?
Precise visual origins remain unclear and unverified. According to digital archives, the original photographs likely come from a Twitter account named @xMarnBBK. The earliest known meme usage dates back to March 20, 2015, attributed to user @sophiaTweel. However, the identity of the man in the photos, as well as the real context of their capture (show, video, forum), is unknown. Know Your Meme confirms no original video source has been identified. The meme peaked in popularity much later, around mid-September 2016, notably on Reddit in r/me_irl. It then spread to Facebook and Twitter, keeping its four-step structure: rejection, presence of the guard, presentation of the better option, and final acceptance.
