In MyMemeCards, the meme card game, “Sssssssssplendide !” is a rare card of the Memes FR pack, number 4975 of the collection, and the 753rd best-known meme of its 3502 cards. Here is what the meme means, where it comes from, and how to get its card.
What does the “Sssssssssplendide !” meme mean?
The phrase comments on a mundane or, conversely, genuinely impressive moment with intentionally over-the-top enthusiasm, playing on the gap between the grandeur of the word and the smallness of what is being praised. The drawn-out hissing sound gives it a theatrical, almost cartoonish tone that lands funnier than the word said normally. People bring it back whenever a scene, sincerely or ironically, deserves a reaction that goes way overboard.
Where does the “Sssssssssplendide !” meme come from?
The exclamation circulates in French-speaking streaming clips, where a highly demonstrative reaction to a moment during a live broadcast got picked up by viewers for its exaggerated tone. Stretching the opening “s” sound, which turns “splendide” into a long hissing interjection, became the signature of these reposted clips. Other content creators then reused the line as a ready-made reaction, detached from the specific moment that originally produced it, applying the same amplified enthusiasm to any scene worth it. It settled into a standalone catchphrase rather than staying tied to one single event.
How to use the “Sssssssssplendide !” meme
- Shout “Sssssssssplendide!” to greet a win with deliberately over-the-top enthusiasm.
