What does the “T'as fait l'armée toi ?” meme mean?
The meme targets a familiar type: the person who steers every conversation back to the army. The question is a trap, because the answer hardly matters; it mostly lets him talk about himself. People use it to tease a friend proud of past hardship, an uncle repeating the same story, or a colleague who compares every difficulty to barracks memories. The tone stays friendly.
Where does the “T'as fait l'armée toi ?” meme come from?
The character is Hervé, a member of the “team du château”, who tells everyone, again and again, that he served in the army. From that obsession came the line “T’as fait l’armée toi ?”, picked up as a standalone quote. The humor comes from his insistence: he says it to everyone, as if the question were always worth asking. Today the line is quoted on its own, without its context.
