What does the “Tu es un laideron mais tu es bien bonne !” meme mean?
People use the sentence for a compliment that falls completely flat, a praise that backfires on whoever delivers it. It suits failed flirting, awkward remarks between friends or a biting “thanks”. The contrast between the coarse content and the affected politeness of medieval vocabulary creates the comedy. The card pairs it with “Merci la gueuse !”, another line from the same film that completes the scene.
