The line works like a mini scene: a character taunts an opponent with an ironic question, then immediately backs down with a laugh. The humor lies in a serious threat falling flat, and in the unexpected picture of the devil joking like a teenager. People use it to defuse an argument, answer one provocation with another, or caption a showdown image that turns into comedy. The spoken tone and loose spelling of “nan j'rigole” reinforce the feel of a hastily sent message.
