What does the “Et portez vous bien” meme mean?
The line is an affectionate goodbye, mock-solemn on purpose. “Portez-vous bien” is an old-school way of wishing someone good health, and Laupok delivers it like a battle cry. Out of his channel it closes a chat, a message or a video with warmth and self-mockery. People use it to tell friends to look after themselves while nodding to a French creator. The tone runs from tender to silly, often repeated several times for extra effect.
Where does the “Et portez vous bien” meme come from?
The line comes from Laupok, a French-speaking creator whose channel is called Le Bazar de Laupok. He ends his videos with “Et portez-vous bien!”, delivered at full energy. Repeated from video to video, it became his signature. Fans stitched the occurrences into compilations on YouTube, some chaining the phrase many times in a row, which helped it travel beyond his own channel. The expression itself has long existed as a wish for good health, but here it changes flavour: it no longer targets one person and instead addresses the whole audience in the voice of a warm host. Commenters now borrow it to sign off in turn.
