In MyMemeCards, the meme card game, “Tumblr Ask Blogs” is a rare card of the Memes World series 75, number 22498 of the collection, and the 79th best-known meme of its 300 cards. Here is what the meme means, where it comes from, and how to get its card.
What does the “Tumblr Ask Blogs” meme mean?
An ask blog turns readers into co-writers. By sending a question, you can push a character to reveal a secret, react to an absurd situation or step outside their usual role. The fun lies in the exchange: followers shape the story without controlling it. Today the name recalls a particular era of creative Tumblr, full of fan art, picture-only replies and tightly knit communities built around a series or a game.
Where does the “Tumblr Ask Blogs” meme come from?
The idea predates Tumblr. In December 2008 a LiveJournal blog called Ask Captain Jack gave a voice to the Doctor Who character Captain Jack Harkness, and about twenty similar blogs formed what fans called the Askverse. Tumblr added its ask feature on January 6, 2010. The spark came with Ask Homestuck, launched April 23, 2011, where Karkat answers an anonymous question. In July 2011 Equestria Daily highlighted My Little Pony blogs such as Ask Twilight Sparkle, pushing the genre beyond its niche. A thread on the official League of Legends forum then listed game-related ask blogs. Answers came as text, drawings, GIFs or cosplay photos.
