Users employ it to describe content that feels absurdly authentic yet depressing or ridiculous, celebrating innocent mistakes or mundane situations made solemn.
Where does the “Weber Cooks” meme come from?
The series originates from Weber State News, the student television station at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah. Produced in 2012, the format features student host Steven Reed preparing quick meals like chili cheese nachos, Rice-A-Roni, spaghetti, and creamed corn potatoes. All preparations are cooked in a microwave. Videos were initially uploaded to YouTube before being removed and later reposted by third parties. The exact producer remains unknown. Virality stems from the stark contrast between Reed's grave delivery and the rudimentary production quality alongside the poverty of ingredients offered.
