Where does the “Will It Blend?” meme come from?
The series comes from Blendtec, an American company specializing in industrial blenders. In October 2006, co-founder Tom Dickson uploaded a video to YouTube featuring golf balls being pulverized in a professional appliance. The initial goal was purely marketing: proving mechanical robustness against hard materials. The tone is casual, with Dickson often wearing a white lab coat. The recurring phrase “Will it blend?” quickly became cult-like due to unexpected view counts. Subsequent episodes included Chuck Norris figurines, iPods, and Barbie dolls. Virality exceeded commercial boundaries, transforming this campaign into a major internet phenomenon of the pre-modern social media era.
