What does the “Allez mon grand, t’es grand” meme mean?

The cry is pure encouragement: a manager who believes his rider can win and pours all his energy through the car window. Today it is used to cheer someone through an effort, a test, an exam or a decisive moment. Madiot’s raw voice and total enthusiasm make it a model of wholehearted support, often quoted half-jokingly. People send it to a friend before an interview, a final sprint or a tight game to say “today is your day.”

Where does the “Allez mon grand, t’es grand” meme come from?

On July 20, 2019, stage 14 of the Tour de France ran 117.5 kilometers from Tarbes to the Col du Tourmalet at Barèges. Thibaut Pinot of Groupama-FDJ broke away in the last 300 meters and won in 3 hours 10 minutes 20 seconds, ahead of Julian Alaphilippe and Steven Kruijswijk. In the following car, his manager Marc Madiot, born in 1959, twice winner of Paris-Roubaix and founder of the team in 1997, yelled out his encouragement. Footage filmed close to him and broadcast by France Télévisions looped across social media and inspired plenty of remixes. The line stuck as the emblem of that victory.
