In MyMemeCards, the meme card game, “Anyme Dictator” is a legendary card of the Memes FR pack, number 1721 of the collection, and the 753rd best-known meme of its 3493 cards. Here is what the meme means, where it comes from, and how to get its card.
What does the “Anyme Dictator” meme mean?
The meme stages a mock despot: Anyme ordering everyone to say and shout his name. People use it to joke about ego, personality cults and the urge to be applauded. Among friends or in a live chat, it is thrown out to demand praise or to tease someone acting like the boss. The comedy comes from the contrast between a solemn dictator pose and a very light setting, a living room or chat window, where nobody is actually at risk.
Where does the “Anyme Dictator” meme come from?
The meme pairs the name of Anyme, a French-language content creator, with the idea of a dictator whose motto is “Say my name, scream my name!”. The phrase echoes the kind of authoritarian lines internet users love to parody, so it lends itself to edits and stream clips. His viewers can repeat the line in chat when he plays the absolute ruler. The meme circulates mostly as stream excerpts, altered images and comments where everyone chants the streamer's name in turn. It works as an inside joke: people who know the community laugh right away, while others simply see a living-room despot gag.
