What does the “c'est moi wesh” meme mean?
The meme feeds on the gap between pretension and reality: a man introducing himself as Mbappé with total confidence, as if it were obvious. It is used to pass oneself off as someone important, mock a show-off, or answer a question about who you are with swagger. The feeling is amusement at disarming self-assurance. It also works for a theatrical entrance, as though everyone must surely recognize you.
Where does the “c'est moi wesh” meme come from?
The line's author presents himself as Mbappé's lookalike and became legendary thanks to “C’est moi, wesh!”. The meme rests on the idea that a star recognized by everyone needs no justification: three words, a firm tone, case closed. The slang word “wesh”, common in casual French, gives the line its direct, relaxed feel. The phrase settled into comment-section language: entering history without having touched a ball.
