The phrase originates from the Japanese manga Axis Powers Hetalia by Hidekaz Himaruya, published since 2006. In the series, the character Russia (Ivan Braginski) tells China in a bar that everyone will eventually “become one with Russia.” The exact date of this original scene is unknown. The meme gained visual traction on DeviantArt in late 2009. On October 27, 2009, artist Brittlander posted an image of Russia in a panda suit with the caption “You will all become one with Russia da?”. BailyDelRosa followed on November 4, 2009, with a similar illustration.
