Where does the “Minimal Movie Posters” meme come from?
Documented online as early as 2010, the movement gained traction through creative communities on the web. On July 23, 2010, minimalist film designs by Jamie Bolton received notable coverage via a showcase on Hexagonall, spurred by a recommendation from Lucy Fife Donaldson. This exposure encouraged designers worldwide to strip cinematic artwork down to its core components. The aesthetic closely channels the iconic design principles of graphic artist Saul Bass, eventually spreading across digital platforms as a broader artistic tribute to movies and television.
