In MyMemeCards, the meme card game, “Billy dort chez un abonné” is a rare card of the Memes FR pack, number 1337 of the collection, and the 753rd best-known meme of its 3498 cards. Here is what the meme means, where it comes from, and how to get its card.
What does the “Billy dort chez un abonné” meme mean?
The meme feeds on the gap between a streamer challenge, supposedly fun and relaxed, and the unexpected detail that comes with it: a hospital bed at the host’s place. It expresses surprise at an off-the-wall sleeping arrangement and the lottery of hospitality. People use it to describe stumbling into an unexpected setting, to tease a friend sleeping somewhere odd, or to comment on a video concept in which a creator invites themselves over to their audience. The plainness of the supporting line, “he has a hospital bed,” strengthens the effect.
Where does the “Billy dort chez un abonné” meme come from?
Sleeping at a subscriber’s home is a recurring format among French-speaking content creators: other videos of the kind, such as “On dort chez un abonné” by Mcfly and Carlito, show YouTubers hosted by their audience. Billy, a French-speaking creator who appears in several videos of the scene, got his own episode, and the detail that stuck was his host’s hospital bed. The scene’s title and the caption line then travelled together, as a clip or an edit, as a reference to the strangest places to stay.
