In MyMemeCards, the meme card game, “La quoi à Sakura ?” is a rare card of the Memes FR pack, number 1347 of the collection, and the 753rd best-known meme of its 3507 cards. Here is what the meme means, where it comes from, and how to get its card.
What does the “La quoi à Sakura ?” meme mean?
The line expresses pure confusion: the question was not understood, the event mentioned is not remembered, and yet an answer is expected. The interrupting “The what?” signals disbelief, while “I don’t remember this fight” adds a faint, comical memory lapse. Use it when someone mentions a vague memory, an invented rule or a reference you have never seen. It also suits fan discussions that get lost in the details of a plot. The humor comes from the sincere astonishment of a character who seems lost in her own story.
Where does the “La quoi à Sakura ?” meme come from?
The meme comes from an anime scene in which Sakura, a character of the Naruto series, replies with a puzzled “La quoi?” and then admits she does not remember a fight. The French version, with its recognizable dubbing, gave the lines their comic rhythm. Cut into a clip, the sequence left the episode and became a reaction in conversations among fans and non-fans alike. It belongs to the family of anime lines that French-speaking communities love to quote out of context, precisely because they sound both natural and absurd. What sells the meme is Sakura’s voice and its sincere surprise.
