What does the “BODE” meme mean?
This meme expresses an absurd yet loving celebration of fatness in cats. It turns a physical trait often seen negatively into something remarkable, similar to the meaning of 'bodacious'. The humor lies in contrasting an overweight animal's image with positive validation. It is a playful way to appreciate our pets' bodies without any mean-spirited criticism or judgment.
Where does the “BODE” meme come from?
The concept originated from a post published on November 27, 2016, on Tumblr by user loghain. In the post, the creator described dreaming of a trend where the word 'BODE' was placed on pictures of very large cats. In this dream context, the term meant 'bodacious', an English adjective describing something fabulous, seductive, or remarkable. Since it did not come from a TV show or video, it is purely an internet creation. The legend spread to Twitter and Reddit, where users began adding this invented word to photos and drawings of obese felines to highlight their imposing appearance with tenderness and irony.
