What does the “Bonjour, nous sommes vendredi” meme mean?
The meme works as a small weekly appointment. Instead of a standard “happy Friday”, it states the date with comic seriousness, like a news anchor opening the broadcast. It captures the relief of the end of the week, the urge to slow down and the pleasure of seeing the same joke come back. The more the line repeats, the funnier it gets. People drop it on Fridays in comments, stories or group chats to greet friends, coworkers or followers before the weekend starts.
Where does the “Bonjour, nous sommes vendredi” meme come from?
“Bonjour, nous sommes vendredi” is a greeting meme that returns every Friday on several social networks. Its whole principle is repetition: the same sentence, posted on the same day by different users who pick it up as a wink between regulars. The humor comes from the flat wording itself, which states the obvious in the voice of an official announcement. Because it depends on the day of the week rather than on any news event, it behaves like a calendar meme, which explains why it keeps coming back. Anyone can add a picture, a voice or a personal touch without changing its core.
