In MyMemeCards, the meme card game, “Bouh !!” is an epic card of the Memes FR pack, number 1681 of the collection, and the 753rd best-known meme of its 3507 cards. Here is what the meme means, where it comes from, and how to get its card.
What does the “Bouh !!” meme mean?
The humour comes from the contrast between the speakers’ supposed grandeur and the modesty of the “mischief” they recount. Hiding behind a bush with your sister, waiting for someone to walk by and yelling “Boo!” is about as ordinary as childhood pranks get, yet it is presented as a daring feat. The cry flags a tiny, harmless prank, or mocks a story that wants to sound bold but is very tame. It is also simply what you shout to make a friend jump.
Where does the “Bouh !!” meme come from?
The meme comes from a video about young aristocrats, shared under titles such as “Ces jeunes aristocrates n’ont pas la même définition des bêtises et c’est drôle” by HuffPost, with an excerpt posted as “Aristocratie de Monaco, la plus grosse bêtise”. One interviewee says that she and her sister used to hide behind a bush and yell “Bouh!” when someone passed. Clips titled “On s’était caché derrière un arbre et on faisait Bouh” then circulated online, and the cry turned into a quotable line for a tiny misdeed.
