In MyMemeCards, the meme card game, “IbraGate” is a rare card of the Cancel & Dramas pack, number 100 of the collection, and the 63rd best-known meme of its 117 cards. Here is what the meme means, where it comes from, and how to get its card.
What does the “IbraGate” meme mean?
Saying “IbraGate” points to a filmed food scandal that spirals into a direct clash between creators and a restaurant owner. The term sums up a specific sequence: a video investigation into a business’s hygiene, followed by a threatening reaction instead of a calm response. People use it for any story where an amateur exposé reveals shady practices at a business, only for the targeted side to escalate rather than explain, turning a food complaint into a public standoff.
Where does the “IbraGate” meme come from?
In 2018, the first restaurant of the Black and White Burger chain, launched in Paris by video creator IbraTV, was targeted by other YouTubers who accused it of serving frozen products stored at temperatures too high to keep them safe. The video exposing these practices spread online and put pressure on the brand. In response, someone close to IbraTV threatened the creators to get the content removed, reportedly saying he was not French but Ingush, and warning of trouble if the video stayed up. He later admitted making those remarks, framing them as pressure meant only to remove what he considered defamatory content. IbraTV, for his part, says he filed a defamation complaint. The episode remains tied to his burger chain as a case of a hygiene complaint turning into intimidation.
