In MyMemeCards, the meme card game, “Chicken Joe” is a rare card of the Memes FR pack, number 794 of the collection, and the 478th best-known meme of its 790 cards. Here is what the meme means, where it comes from, and how to get its card.
What does the “Chicken Joe” meme mean?
The character works as a model, half joke and half wish. In a world of tense people, being Chicken Joe means walking through disaster without picking up the pace. Clips that use him almost always set two attitudes against each other: the one panicking and the one floating. The most common trend shows someone visibly deteriorating, a night out or a bad day, and concludes that they end up like Chicken Joe. The heavy-lidded chicken does the rest, no knowledge of the film required.
Where does the “Chicken Joe” meme come from?
The character comes from Surf's Up, released in 2007, a mock documentary about a surfing contest among penguins; Chicken Joe is the chicken who entered without quite knowing why, voiced by Jon Heder. The film kept a modest childhood-nostalgia status for years before its scenes returned through YouTube compilations, the largest of which has passed two million views. In 2025 and 2026 TikTok made him a trend: captions along the lines of choosing to be Chicken Joe in a world of frustrated people, clips of the French dub where he introduces himself, and party edits. The video a player submitted belongs to that wave, captioned as the friend who thinks he can hold his drink and ends up like Chicken Joe.
