In MyMemeCards, the meme card game, “Crabcore” is a rare card of the Memes World series 74, number 22055 of the collection, and the 11th best-known meme of its 300 cards. Here is what the meme means, where it comes from, and how to get its card.
What does the “Crabcore” meme mean?
The term pokes fun at the physical antics and stage aesthetics common in late-2000s electronicore and screamo scenes. By lowering their stance until they resemble sideways-crawling crustaceans, players look undeniably uncomfortable. Internet users invoke this meme to tease over-the-top live performances, celebrate nostalgic scene culture, or joke about unnecessary athletic flexing while playing an instrument.
Where does the “Crabcore” meme come from?
While the origin remains somewhat debated—with singer Craig Mabbitt from Blessthefall crouching crab-like onstage during “Higinia” in late 2007—the meme achieved mainstream notoriety through Attack Attack!. In the music video for their track “Stick Stickly”, featured on the 2008-associated release Someday Came Suddenly, guitarist Andrew Whiting adopted an unmistakable squat. Audiences quickly turned the peculiar stance into a comedic hallmark of that musical era.
