In MyMemeCards, the meme card game, “Envie de gicler” is a legendary card of the Memes FR pack, number 1252 of the collection, and the 753rd best-known meme of its 3493 cards. Here is what the meme means, where it comes from, and how to get its card.
What does the “Envie de gicler” meme mean?
The meme runs on the strength of a very vivid verb dropped without explanation: “gicler” evokes splashes, jets and liquid flying everywhere. Said with insistence, the sentence turns incongruous, somewhere between a challenge and a wink, and everyone reads it their own way. People use it to draw a smile in relaxed conversation, to caption an absurd edit, or to go with a scene of splashing water or a shaken soda. The comedy comes from its brevity and tone, never from a fixed context.
Where does the “Envie de gicler” meme come from?
The card gives the expression without further detail, which makes it a phrase meme rather than a scene meme. “Envie de gicler” pairs the everyday word “envie” (a wish, a craving) with “gicler”, a verb for liquid shooting out with force. That short, striking combination is enough to make the line memorable, and the English rendering on the card underlines its blunt side. Like many short lines, it travels in comments, captions and edits, detached from any single situation, and each community sets its own tone. Its strength is that it can be dropped almost anywhere: a joke, a friendly provocation or a nonsensical exclamation.
