Where does the “Grand Prix Richmond Crackstyle” meme come from?
The phenomenon began on March 9, 2014, at the Grand Prix of Richmond, a major Magic: The Gathering tournament. Amateur photographer Sid Blair, also a player, left the competition after his first day. He uploaded a series of candid photos to Imgur, which were then shared on Reddit. These images captured participants from behind, often crouching or leaning, inadvertently revealing their anatomy from a ridiculous angle. The post quickly gained traction online. The term 'Crackstyle' refers specifically to this shooting angle emphasizing the buttocks cleavage. Although Blair claimed he wanted to highlight poor attire rather than mock appearances, the tournament organizer sanctioned him with an eighteen-month suspension for disrespectful behavior.
