In MyMemeCards, the meme card game, “Guillaume le thug” is an epic card of the Memes FR pack, number 798 of the collection, and the 177th best-known meme of its 790 cards. Here is what the meme means, where it comes from, and how to get its card.
What does the “Guillaume le thug” meme mean?
The character mocks the posture rather than any real menace. Guillaume talks like a gangster in a sneaker shop, a kitchen, a classroom, and the gap between the tone and the backdrop is the joke. Invoking him means pinning down someone putting on a front they cannot back up, or laughing at yourself when you catch your own voice doing it. The six-second format set the recipe: one situation, one pose held to the end, no explanatory punchline.
Where does the “Guillaume le thug” meme come from?
Mister V, born Yvick Letexier in August 1993, made his name on Vine, the six-second video network, before becoming a fixture of French online comedy and then a rapper. Guillaume le thug is one of the characters he established there, alongside other parodic figures, playing every part himself in front of his phone. The platform shut down after three years, in the mid-2010s, and the sketches migrated to YouTube, Facebook and eventually TikTok as compilations. By then Mister V had co-founded the comedy collective Le Woop. The character has stayed a shared reference between the generation that used Vine and the one discovering it through reposts.
