What does the “Les boules de Noël” meme mean?
You use the line when a joke is bad and you decide to laugh anyway, far too hard. It says two things at once: the pun is worthless, and you are going along with it. It is politeness applied to calendar humour, the kind found at family dinners and in end-of-year messages. Played straight it congratulates; played ironically it quietly buries whoever just spoke.
Where does the “Les boules de Noël” meme come from?
The scene comes from “OSS 117: Lost in Rio”, the second film in the series, directed by Michel Hazanavicius and released in 2009, with Jean Dujardin back as Hubert Bonisseur de La Bath.
