Where does the “He Cookin'” meme come from?
The GIF comes from an animation with an unknown author and original video source. The first documented appearance is on Tumblr on June 27, 2016, when user relishboi posted it as their top dance move choice with the caption “He cookin’!!”. The post gained over 23,000 notes by late 2016. The cultural reference stems from American rapper Lil B’s “Cooking Dance,” which mimics culinary gestures like stirring or chopping, popularized by a YouTube tutorial video released in 2010 (exact date unsourced).
