Where does the “I'm So...” meme come from?
The documented origin of the meme lies on Twitter, September 12, 2009. A user named Owtlaw then posted a tweet launching the hashtag #imsomephis, dedicated specifically to Memphis, Tennessee. This initiative marked the beginning of the phrase's popularity. Shortly after, on December 10, 2009, another internet user, GQue5050, introduced the variant #imsodetroit, extending the concept to other American cities. The principle consists of writing sentences starting with "I'm so [City Name]", followed by a local habit, a former place, or a typical expression. The Twitter platform served as the initial cradle, before Facebook became a major dissemination site. No video support or TV show is at the origin of this phenomenon; it is purely a textual creation born from interaction between users keen on celebrating their urban identity through humor.
