What does the “KAMOULOX” meme mean?

Shouting “Kamoulox!” says that what you just heard makes no sense, and says it with a grin. It flags a conversation where sentences follow each other without logic, or a situation nobody understands any more. It also works as a playful reply to a confusing explanation. The feeling is shared complicity: people recognise the absurd together and celebrate it rather than fight it.

Where does the “KAMOULOX” meme come from?

Kamoulox began as a radio sketch on Ouï FM in the 1990s, inside La Cage à miel, before moving to television in La Grosse Émission (1999 to 2001) on Comédie!, then to Canal+. It parodies game shows such as Pyramide and draws on a Les Inconnus sketch, “Simple comme bonjour”. Its name blends those of its creators, Kad and Olivier. Two contestants swap ever more incoherent lines under an arbiter called John-Bob, who hands out points and jokers by rules never explained. When one player hesitates too long, the other yells “Kamoulox!” and becomes the new finalist.
