La SECTE de PYRORCA - RECKTIFICATION p.1 (MaxEstLa)In MyMemeCards, the meme card game, “Pyrorca affair” is a common card of the Memes FR pack, number 2578 of the collection, and the 753rd best-known meme of its 3493 cards. Here is what the meme means, where it comes from, and how to get its card.
What does the “Pyrorca affair” meme mean?
Mentioning the Pyrorca affair points back to one of the largest dramas in French-language YouTube history, the moment an investigative video series shook an entire community. People use it as a landmark when comparing creator controversies, or to show how fast a single video can change a channel’s reputation. The subject concerns the protection of minors, so a serious and factual tone fits, and what was alleged remains allegations made in videos rather than a verdict.
Where does the “Pyrorca affair” meme come from?
In February 2021 the YouTuber MaxEstLa uploaded several videos about Pyrorca, another creator on the platform. The first batch carried titles such as “La secte de Pyrorca” and “Les déviances de Pyrorca”, under the label “Recktification”, and accused him of inappropriate behavior toward minors. Pyrorca streamed a reaction live on 21 February 2021, later removed from his channel but kept alive through re-uploads by viewers. The story spread quickly: dozens of reaction channels, recaps and mini-documentaries picked it up. A later MaxEstLa video even announced an arrest by the gendarmerie, with a search and police custody. This long sequence made the affair a regular subject of videos about the history of French YouTube.
