Here is what the meme means, where it comes from, and how to get its card.
What does the “Le frunkp” meme mean?
The word frunkp is used to mock an overblown musical mashup, a performer who takes themselves far too seriously, or a flashy fusion act that fails artistically yet commits fully to its own absurdity. Quoting the chorus is a shorthand way of poking fun at exaggerated showmanship, a gaudy costume, or an over-the-top stage persona rather than the music itself.
Where does the “Le frunkp” meme come from?
Frunkp originates from a 2003 television sketch by French comedian Michaël Youn, then a well-known television host, who created the fictional singer Alphonse Brown as a mock heir to James Brown. The bit parodies American music-video clichés: sequined outfits, backup singers, exaggerated choreography and a chorus built entirely around the nonsense word “frunkp.” The sketch was an instant hit with French television audiences and later spread widely online, becoming a recurring reference quoted by fans of the comedian’s work, and the character still resurfaces occasionally in later stage performances.
