In MyMemeCards, the meme card game, “Maman mes chiottes !!” is an epic card of the Memes FR pack, number 2653 of the collection, and the 753rd best-known meme of its 3511 cards. Here is what the meme means, where it comes from, and how to get its card.
What does the “Maman mes chiottes !!” meme mean?
The meme plays on the contrast between a childish voice calling for mom over a bathroom matter and the doting mother who answers with pride. It is used to ridicule an embarrassing little victory, a perfectly ordinary act celebrated with exaggeration, or childish dependence. Among friends, people use it to call for help over trivial things or to mock someone seeking maternal approval. The comedy is family intimacy twisted into absurdity, in South Park's crude style.
Where does the “Maman mes chiottes !!” meme come from?
The clip comes from season 10, episode 8 of South Park, Make Love, Not Warcraft, written and directed by Trey Parker and aired on Comedy Central on 4 October 2006. The episode centers on World of Warcraft, with the boys of the town battling a player who keeps killing their characters. In the French dub, the line “Maman, mes chiottes !” is shouted by one of the kids, and the mother replies fondly, congratulating her son, as the quote goes. Excerpts were uploaded to YouTube under that title. The meme then traveled as short cuts, edit sounds and comment quotes. The exact context of the scene matters little: it is the instantly recognizable line that circulates.
- 4 October 2006US premiere of Make Love, Not Warcraft (season 10, episode 8).
