The meme comes out when talk turns to comparing prices, energy bills, contracts, or just to a catchy tune. It also works as a pun: “Verifox” blends the brand name with the English word fox.
Where does the “Was sagt der Verifox?” meme come from?
Verivox is a German comparison portal, and its ad campaigns feature a fox, the Verifox, with a jingle that clings to the ear. The meme title reuses the formula of “What Does the Fox Say?”, the comedy song whose chorus spread around the world. Pairing an ad mascot with a viral hit handed German internet users a ready-made template for edits, song parodies and sarcastic comments under the spots.
