The project started on Facebook at the end of December 2012, about two months before the Italian general election of February 2013, with the stated aim of restoring feudalism across Europe. Six young “knights” launched the page and tried to field historical figures such as Joan of Arc and Cangrande della Scala, but the list was never admitted to the vote. The page kept posting calls to arms and attacks on corrupt power in an Italian that imitates the language of the sixteenth century, with words like “pugna” and “manducar”. The press read it as satire that spares no side, and a short book was published by Magicpress.
