What does the “Yeee rok” meme mean?
The cry conveys total enthusiasm, raw joy at a moment you want to celebrate. The clash with a burning skeleton gives it a macabre yet good-natured comedy. Replace “rock” with another word and any event becomes a party, even the gloomiest. The meme says: anything can be an excuse to yell with joy.
Where does the “Yeee rok” meme come from?
The meme dates to 2016 and comes from the Runet, the Russian-language internet. A flaming skeleton, guitar in hand, lets out an ecstatic cry: “Yeaaah, rock!”. Russian users replaced “rock” with increasingly absurd topics, up to a version about funerals where everything turns into a party. This escalation of absurdity, each version topping the last, fed the meme’s popularity.
