What does the “Eto norma” meme mean?
The phrase is used to ironically downplay something that clearly isn't normal, mimicking the reassuring, slightly absurd tone of the original show. It comments on a strange or awkward situation as if it were perfectly ordinary, creating a comic gap that anyone familiar with the reference immediately recognizes.
Where does the “Eto norma” meme come from?
The phrase comes from the Russian TV health show hosted by Elena Malysheva, a well-known figure on Russian television, where she regularly calls surprising symptoms “normal” on air. YouTube searches confirm clips from this show paired with the phrase remain widely circulated, reused online as an ironic reaction far beyond its original medical context. The card tags the meme as Runet format without a specific year; out of discretion around the sometimes intimate health topics covered on the show, no precise medical detail is repeated here, as only the meme's mechanics matter to understand its use.
